What's a Grassroots Podcast?
Ultimately many of us have a podcast in mind (and heart) but we generally get overwhelmed by being in an information age and being unable to get a straightforward answer from what we think is a simple Google search:
- How do I record a podcast?
- What is the best microphone?
- How do I edit a podcast?
- What is a Podcast host and how does that differ from a podcast directory or platform?
- How do I get onto Apple Podcasts, Spotify Podcasts...is Google Podcasts still alive?
- I don't want to do this forever, how do I plan? How can I create a season?
And on and on. Wouldn't it be nice to have all of these questions (and more) answered and specifically within the context of YOUR podcast?
That's exactly what this group podcast 4-week live course is all about. I teach you how to "get out of the starting gates" and get momentum for your first 6 episodes which is also one full short season.
This format means you can dip your toes into very simple podcasting and decide if you want to fly the nest and carry on under your own steam, use what you've learned to hire a decent editor of your own (or hire me to keep going with what we've built already), or finally scratched that "what if" and you know for sure podcasting isn't for you right now.
How the course works:
Week 1 (Learning):
Week 1 is full of a couple of live streams, your first 1-1 and if you don't have the equipment you'll be assigned your personal recommendations to order from Amazon, Thomann or Andertons (my favoured audio suppliers) in that time you'll be coached and have homework around setting up your podcast on the recommended platform in your 1-1.
Week 2 (Recording):
This is where you have planned your one day to sit and record your 4-6 episodes following the instructions given to you during the learning week. These files MUST be in your assigned shared folder by the end of the week.
Week 3 (Review + Ready):
You can opt to review your work and run your episodes through the previous tasks mentioned as optional. As your episodes become ready and are uploaded to your shared folder, you can opt to promote it and with an agreed publish date, get your folks excited! Or you can keep it quiet and launch then wave. This is also the time to experience writing out your own show notes for each episode for me to upload for you.
Week 4 (Launched + Evaluate):
Your episodes are fully uploaded to your host of choice, as are the show notes you've written. How ever you've chosen to let this season fly, it's out into the world now. As part of this Beta programme, there will be a final 1-1 to review how it went for you as well as an invitation to send anonymous feedback.
4-week real-time course with 4 coaching livestreams (and replays), transcripts, 3 1-1 sessions, and your first podcast season fully produced and published
